EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NCGA

The National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) is accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. This is a part-time position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2013. The NCGA is comprised of 14 institutions sponsoring women’s gymnastics programs that compete at the NCAA Division III level.

The executive director will assume responsibility for administering the overall operations of the NCGA including, but not limited to, assisting with the conduct of the NCGA national and regional championships, serving as the liaison between the NCGA coaches and administrators, preparing and distributing the agendas and minutes of all NCGA meetings/conference calls, establishing an ongoing program of corporate financial support, and maintaining the NCGA website.  An extensive background in the sport of women’s gymnastics at the collegiate level as an administrator or coach is required. Candidates must also possess strong written and oral communication skills and have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and website maintenance.

Compensation for this position is established at $6,000 per year.  Application deadline is 4:30 p.m., (Central Time) Friday, May 24, 2013. HEAD GOLF COACH

Primary Fuction                                                 

Develop and maintain effective and competitive intercollegiate women’s golf program through recruitment of quality student-athletes and successful coaching of those individuals.  In the recruitment effort, will be a representative of the total institution, with all of the factual knowledge and sensitivities required by that representative. 

Major Responsibilities

  1. Organize and operate and effective women’s golf program.
  2. Recruit effectively in guidelines set by the university, conference and the NCAA
  3. Plan and organize in-season practice sessions.
  4. Plan and organize off-season conditioning programs.
  5. Devise a schedule (incl. travel arrangements for all away meets).
  6. Develop and monitor a budget.
  7. Work with department in arrangement for match officials.
  8. Promotes women’s golf at UW Oshkosh through clinics, camps, and speaking engagements.
  9. Demonstrates a working knowledge of NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations.
  10. Counsel student-athletes and set up short/long-term goals.
  11. Develop and execute fund-raising projects when appropriate.
  12. Participate in university activities and committees.
  13. Attend departmental meetings, organizational efforts, and departmental activities.
  14. Take part in professional development and educational activities to stay abreast of new ideas, concepts, and changes that occur in his/her sport.
  15. Endorse and support other sports within the Athletic Department and other duties as outlined by the Athletic Director.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree preferred.  Three to five years of coaching or amatuer playing experience.  Demonstrated understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy.  For full consideration, all application materials must be received by the end of the day on May 6, 2013.

MARKETING AND DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

The Marketing & Development Specialist is responsible for the creation and execution of all community relations, marketing, social media and promotional campaigns for the Intercollegiate Athletics Department.

Also, this role is responsible for the development of an integrated athletic marketing and fundraising plan that will raise exposure and increase revenue for Intercollegiate Athletics. Responsibilities include collaboration with University foundation, University Alumni Association, Integrated Marketing and Athletic department staff in the development of this plan and the recommendation of plan implementation, timeline and resources needed. The position will also be responsible for directing current Athletic department marketing efforts already in place.

Duties and Responsibilities

50% Marketing and Event Management Duties

  • Develop a strategic marketing plan which encompasses branding, recruitment support, campus and community relations and communication strategies.
  • Design and coordinate all promotional materials related to all game and season promotions.
  • Utilizes the diversity within the workforce by incorporating the diverse perspectives into promotional materials.
  • Coordinate the printing of schedule cards, posters, ticket brochures and other promotional pieces.
  • Responsible for the execution of game promotions for athletic events.
  • Work or arrange for workers (student volunteers) at athletic events to coordinate the execution of activities, liaison with media and other promotional activities.
  • Responsible for the placement for all print, radio, and television ads.
  • Facilitate Video Board operation.
  • Lead role in the design and implementation of “branding” the Athletics department.

25% Development and Fundraising Initiatives Support

  • Assist with corporate partner development program
  • Work with University Foundation and University Alumni Association to generate further revenues from former Titan athletes; including but not limited to an alumni athlete donor program and increasing attendance by athletes at alumni events.
  • Establish a community outreach program that will see athletes and coaches increase their exposure in the community, including but not limited to programs geared toward elementary schools and youth sports programs.
  • Establish a fundraising program geared to work with and aid local charities.
  • Work with the resources on campus to get the campus community more involved with Intercollegiate Athletics and the fundraising initiatives.
  • Participate in alumni and community functions as the representative of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and Intercollegiate Athletics.

25% Website, Social Media, and Radio Support

  • Collaborate with sports information department on management of athletics web site as well as information being submitted to area media outlets.
  • Assist in the design and maintenance of Intercollegiate Athletics web site, including the production of feature stories and daily updates, as well as establishing sponsorship opportunities on the Internet.
  • Manage the internship programs and supervise student workers.
  • Responsible for social media and coordination of Titan Tuesday Radio Show.

Assumes other necessary duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Ability to organize workflow and coordinate activities.
  2. Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse settings, both on campus and in the community.
  4. Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  5. Able to work with diverse populations, including but not limited to people of all ages with various ethnic, sexual orientation, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  6. Skill in operation of modern office machines, communication tools, equipment, computers and relevant software.
  7. Skill in basic desktop publishing and basic web site management.
  8. Ability to work in both Television and Radio broadcasting.

ASSISTANT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH/GAME MANAGEMENT/ASSISTANT CONCESSIONS MANAGER

Responsibilities

Assist in organizing and operating an effective women’s basketball.

Recruit effectively by guidelines set by the university, conference and the NCAA.

Assist in planning and organizing in-season women’s basketball practices.

Ensure the academic success of women’s basketball student-athletes as a model NCAA DIII institution.

Assist in coordinating academic meetings with the team.

Assist in planning and organizing off-season conditioning programs.

Promotes women’s basketball at UW Oshkosh through clinics, camps, and speaking engagements.

Demonstrates a working knowledge of NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations.

Coordinate and supervise home contests including facility set-up, student staff, ticket sales, and game management for a select sport.

Assist in organizing all concessions sales for high school and/or outside activities held on or in the UW Oshkosh athletic facilities.

Provide customer service and food preparation and service during special events and programs.

May be responsible for assisting with concessions programs off campus or out of the building as needed.

Verify all starting cash funds and process deposit at the end of the concessions shift.

Record and submit completed daily concessions inventory form after each shift.

Communicate information to concessions manager in assisting with inventory control.

Follow appropriate safe food handling procedures before, during, and following all events.

Demonstrate success in UW Oshkosh’s essential learning outcomes.

Take part in professional development and educational activities to stay abreast of new ideas, concepts, and changes that occur in women’s basketball
