Forrest Olson's second-half goal was all that nationally ranked Loras College (Iowa) needed to gain a 1-0 victory over the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team on Tuesday (Sept. 4) in Dubuque, Iowa.
Olson broke a defensive tussle when he scored off an assist from Johnny Rummelhart in the 54th minute (53:50) of play. It was Olson's only shot during a contest that was delayed for nearly two hours in the first half due to inclement weather.
Loras College (3-0), which entered the match ranked third in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, attempted 14 shots and earned six corner kicks. The Duhawks were led by the four shots of Louie Oswald and the three of Tom Fluegel.
UW-Oshkosh's (1-1-1) only shot on goal was by Hans Becker (So. • Madison) with 12 minutes remaining. The attempt was saved as goalkeeper Dylan Milkent preserved the Duhawks' third straight shutout. UW-Oshkosh fired seven shots overall, including two by Ryan Hanna (Jr. • Verona).
Nick Barry (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) guarded UW-Oshkosh's goal and totaled six saves.
It was the eighth meeting between the teams, with Loras College tying the all-time series at four wins apiece. UW-Oshkosh had won the previous three contests.
UW-Oshkosh travels to play Marian University in Fond du Lac on Sept. 12.
