Titans, Vikings Score Late For 1-1 Tie

Augustana College (Ill.) scored with three seconds left in regulation to tie the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team, 1-1, on Sunday (Sept. 16) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The Titans (2-1-3) finally got on the scoreboard during the contest's 88th minute (87:11). Ryan Hanna (Jr. • Verona) drilled a shot into the net from eight yards out to take the lead.

With the clock winding down, the Auggies (3-2-1) threw the ball in and had Jason Beckus score right in front of the goal (89:57). Jakob Rettke earned an assist on the play.

UW-Oshkosh attempted two shots in each of the two overtime periods, while Augustana had none. The Titans held a 12-5 advantage in shots and a 7-5 margin in corner kicks for the game.

Hanna and Alex Holmes (So. • Verona) each marked two shots on goal for the Titans. Augustana was led by two shots apiece from Beckus and Matt Shipon.

Both goalkeepers went 110 minutes, with Brett Johnson saving seven shots for the Vikings and Nick Barry (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) stopping one for UW-Oshkosh.

The Titans have a road game at St. Norbert College on Wednesday (Sept. 19).
