Chris Kurth (Jr. • Green Bay) scored 19 seconds into overtime as the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team defeated Concordia University Wisconsin, 1-0, on Saturday (Sept. 22) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
Kurth's seven-yard shot at the 90:19 mark of the match came off a pass from Hans Becker (So. • Madison). It was the second goal of the season for Kurth.
UW-Oshkosh (4-1-3) controlled the flow of play, posting advantages of 17-2 in shots and 6-1 in corner kicks. The Titans attempted 11 of their shots and earned four of their corner kicks in the opening period.
UW-Oshkosh was led individually by the five shots of Ryan Hanna (Jr. • Verona), three of Kurth and two of Evan Krause (Fr. • New Berlin). Aaron Pope and Kyle Sytsman both launched one shot for Concordia University Wisconsin (4-4).
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nick Barry (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) saved one shot as he went without little activity. The shutout was Barry's third of the season.
Concordia University Wisconsin goalkeeper Sam Ische stopped nine shots, including six in the first half.
The win improved the Titans' all-time record against the Falcons to 8-4-4.
UW-Oshkosh travels to UW-Superior next Saturday (Sept. 29) for its WIAC opener.
