Jakob Aronnson scored both goals, including the match-winner with less than 10 minutes to play, as the North Park University (Ill.) men's soccer team defeated UW-Oshkosh, 2-1, on Wednesday (Oct. 10) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
Aronnson opened the contest's scoring with his unassisted, two-yard shot in the 75th minute (74:56) of action. He then broke a 1-1 tie by heading a six-yard shot into the net during the game's 81st minute (80:25). Markus Fodstad assisted Aronnson's decisive goal.
It took just two minutes for UW-Oshkosh to tie the score following Aronnson's first goal. The Titans forced the deadlock when Evan Krause (Fr. • New Berlin) converted a 15-yard free kick in the 77th minute (76:25) of play. The goal was Krause's third of the season.
UW-Oshkosh (5-3-3) was held to just six shots, including two that belonged to Jonathan Stanley (Fr. • Lindenhurst, Ill.). The Titans earned four corner kick opportunities in each half.
North Park University (6-2-4) totaled 10 shots and four corner kicks as the Vikings improved their record to 5-0-4 in their last nine matches. The Vikings were led by the two shots of Aronnson.
UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nick Barry (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) saved three shots while allowing both goals. North Park University goalkeeper Tim Ahlberg faced only one shot on goal, the free kick that Krause scored on.
