The WIAC selected UW-Oshkosh's Brian McKnight as its Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for meets held Sept. 4-10.
McKnight finished 27th among 167 runners as UW-Oshkosh opened its 2017 season with a seventh-place standing at the Vic Godfrey Open held Sept. 3 in Somers.
McKnight completed the 8,000-meter race in a time of 26:39 to rank as UW-Oshkosh's top finisher.
Armando Torres of NCAA Division II UW-Parkside won the race with a time of 25:05 while Daniel Pederson of Division I Marquette University placed second in 25:15 to help the Golden Eagles capture the team title with 27 points.
Division I DePaul University (Ill.) finished second in the team standings with 74 points while UW-Parkside and Division II Michigan Tech placed third and fourth with 94 and 110 points, respectively.
UW-Oshkosh, one of three Division III programs at the meet, tallied 194 points to gather its seventh-place finish.
