Led by the top 10 individual performances of Lucas Weber and Michael Juarez, UW-Oshkosh finished second among 26 teams at the Kollege Town Sports Men's Cross Country Invitational held Saturday (Oct. 14) at the Lake Breeze Golf in Winneconne.
Augustana College (Ill.) captured the team competition with 97 points. The Vikings were followed by UW-Oshkosh, third-place Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) with 116, fourth-place Willamette University (Ore.) with 134 and fifth-place Wheaton College (Ill.) with 148.
Rounding out the top 10 teams were sixth-place Carthage College with 171 points, seventh-place Heidelberg University (Ohio) with 184, eighth-place Aurora University (Ill.) with 196, ninth-place UW-Stout with 243 and 10th-place Lake Forest College (Ill.) with 257. UW-Stout entered the meet ranked 19th in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Weber paced UW-Oshkosh by completing the 8,000-meter course with a time of 25:40 while Juarez finished in 25:57, Chadwick in 26:22, McKnight in 26:54 and Massey in 26:59.
Non-collegian Nathan Routheri claimed the individual title with his time of 25:21. Austin Neura of Heidelberg University placed second in 25:24, Josh Janusiak of Lawrence University third in 25:38, Weber fourth and Keith Carlson of Willamette University fifth in 25:40.
The top 10 individual listings also featured Mitchell Johnson and Brandon Wilkerson of Augustana College finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, with a time of 25:51. Michael Montague of Willamette University placed eighth in 25:55, Juarez ninth and Wesley Meyer of Olivet Nazarene University 10th in 26:00.
In addition to its point scorers, UW-Oshkosh also had Noah O'Neill finish 51st with a time of 27:02, Skyler Yunk 58th in 27:08, Noah Bruehl 67th in 27:15, Jacob Rost 81st in 27:27, Bennett Krueger 90th in 27:35, Jack Rindahl 92nd in 27:36, Spencer Muffler 118th in 27:57, Andrew George 121st in 28:01, Corbin Bevry 130th in 28:10 and Austin Baker 149th in 28:21.
UW-Oshkosh returns to the Lake Breeze Golf Club on Friday (Oct. 20) to host a four-team meet with UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater.
