The Titans dominated the freestyle races during their season opener. Shandley prevailed in both the 50-yard (25.88) and 100-yard (56.39) competitions. Hilgendorf grabbed first place with her times of 5:37.60 in the 500-yard race and 11:17.28 in the 1,000-yard challenge.
Hilgendorf and Shandley grouped with Hannah Forcey (Jr. • Appleton) and Liz Schneider (Sr. • Middleton) for a winning 1:47.98 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Titans also used Katherine Challoner (Fr. • Sun Prairie), Katie Duffey (Sr. • McFarland), Marissa Graff (Jr. • Hancock, Mich.) and Laura Sullivan (Fr. • Milwaukee) to take the 200-yard medley relay in 2:01.18.
Challoner added an individual victory in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:10.93. UW-Oshkosh's other two wins came on the diving board. Allison Booth (Jr. • Middleton) scored 178.80 at three meters, while Sally Hesby (Fr. • Plymouth, Minn.) tallied a 200.25 at one meter.
The Titan divers flipped places in the two events, with Booth earning second at one meter (189.20) and Hesby listing second at three meters (163.35).
UW-Oshkosh's second-place scores continued with Challoner in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:27.72, Duffey in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:11.91 and Forcey in the 50-yard freestyle at 27.45. Sullivan touched the wall second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.25), as did Casey Houts (Fr. • Schaumburg, Ill.) in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:51.83 and Katie Kubisiak (Fr. • Minocqua) in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:14.61.
Graff earned a pair of third-place results after clocking 2:29.15 in the 200-yard individual medley and a 5:53.32 in the 500-yard freestyle.
UW-Oshkosh travels to Carroll University for a dual meet on Saturday (Oct. 27).
