UW-Oshkosh's Christy Cazzola (Sr. • Kaukauna) set two national indoor records to earn WIAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for meets held Feb. 4-10.
Cazzola was named the league's top track performer, while Bailey Alston of UW-La Crosse received the conference's top field award.
Cazzola established her NCAA Division III marks within a span of 75 minutes at the Iowa State University Classic on Feb. 9 in Ames, Iowa.
Cazzola won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.76. Her performance broke the old record of 2:06.89 set by Genesia Eddins of the University of Massachusetts-Boston in 1987. Ejiroghene Okoro of Iowa State University finished second to Cazzola with a time of 2:06.40.
In the mile run, Cazzola posted a second-place time of 4:43.13. Her effort beat the 4:43.92 that Missy Buttry of Wartburg College (Iowa) ran in 2005. Team USA's Heather Kampf won the race with a time of 4:37.13.
