Each week during the 2016-17 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a "Student-Athlete Spotlight" Q & A segment. The segments, presented by Culver's, will be also posted every Thursday on the WIAC website.

Name: Hunter Effa
Institution: UW-Oshkosh
Hometown (High School): Seymour, Wis. (Seymour High School)
Year in school: Senior
Sport: Men's Track & Field
Major(s): Kinesiology (Strength & Conditioning emphasis)

Why did you choose UW-Oshkosh?
UW-Oshkosh has a good kinesiology program and a very competitive track & field team.

What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference?
The WIAC is one of the toughest Division III conferences in the country. I would rather have to work hard and prove myself in a hard conference than coast through an easy one.

What is your favorite…

Flavor of the Day from Culver's? Peanut Butter Cup
Menu item from Culver's?
Grilled chicken sandwich
Spot on campus?
Student Recreation & Wellness Center
Human Anatomy
The Marvel series
Prime rib
Professional Sports Team?
Green Bay Packers
TV Show?
"South Park"
Musical Group?
"Without self-discipline, success is impossible, period."

What do you plan to do after graduation?
I plan on being a strength and conditioning coach who coaches track & field on the side.

If you could trade places with anyone, who would it be and why?
Carl Lewis because he is the most decorated long jumpers in history. Being able to compete in the Olympics would be an amazing experience, and I have always wondered what it felt like to run as fast and jump as far as he does.

What is your greatest sports moment?
My greatest sports moment was having the opportunity to compete at the 2016 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & field Championship.

What is your favorite thing to do off the field with your teammates?
Steve's jumps crew dinner.

One word that describes the team?

When you surf the web, the site you most often go to?

A non-athletic talent you have?
Shooting pool.

Three things on your "bucket list"?
1. Skydiving
2. Deep-sea fishing
3. Being an All-American

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event rituals? If so, what are they?
Ice bath two nights before competition, visualize execution the night before competition, eat pasta the morning of competition and wear pink compression socks during competition.

Your worst habit is?
Leaving clothes on the floor.
