Titans Finish Third At WIAC Indoor Championship

Emily Reichenberger successfully defended her title in the 60-meter dash and added a victory at the 200-meter distance as UW-Oshkosh finished third in the 42nd edition of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship (presented by Culver's) held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 23-24) in Stevens Point.

Reichenberger recorded a time of 7.72 seconds in the 60-meter dash to defeat 21 other runners, including UW-Stout's Kaitlin Mallek who finished second in 7.76. In the 200-meter dash, Reichenberger outran 25 other contestants with her time of 25.39 seconds. UW-Stevens Point's Hannah Mertens placed second in the 200-meter race with a time of 25.48 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh owned two other event winners as Cheyenne Moore won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:17.78 and Cara Volz the triple jump with a measurement of 38-4 3/4. UW-La Crosse's Rebecca Voss finished second among 27 participants in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:27.97 while the Eagles' Betsy Schreier was the runner-up among 23 competitors in the triple jump with a skip of 38-3 1/4.

The Titans placed third in the team standings with 89 points. UW-Oshkosh earned its ranking with the help of 15 points scored in both the 60- and 200-meter dashes.

UW-La Crosse counted 201.5 points to win its sixth straight WIAC indoor title and 23rd overall. UW-Eau Claire finished second to the Eagles with 153.5 points while UW-Stout placed fourth with 67.5, UW-Stevens Point fifth with 67, UW-Whitewater sixth with 51.5, UW-Platteville seventh with 23 and UW-River Falls eighth with 9.

UW-Oshkosh had a trio of third-place performances as Moore and Volz ran to times of 10:07.34 in the 3,000-meter run and 9.15 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, respectively, while Karina Marchan leaped to a distance of 18-3 in the long jump. 

The Titans also received a fourth-place time of 7.80 seconds in the 60-meter dash from Olivia Seeley.

UW-Oshkosh's Lauren Wrensch had a pair of fifth-place efforts, running to a time of 25.93 seconds in the 200-meter dash and measuring a distance of 18-0 1/2 in the long jump. Ellie Infante also placed third with her mark of 52-0 in the 20-pound weight throw.

Other UW-Oshkosh results featured Taylor Pralle finishing sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.27 seconds and eighth in the 200-meter dash at 26.07. Sadie Huth placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.30 seconds and Kahley Logan seventh in the shot put with a distance of 40-7.

In the relays, UW-Oshkosh finished fifth in the 1,600-meter event as Huth, Pralle, Morgan Endries and Rachel Powers ran to a time of 4:02.38. The Titans' distance medley group of Cammy Garvelink, Melissa Srnka, Amanda Van Den Plas and Breanna Van Den Plas placed seventh with a time of 13:15.70.

UW-Eau Claire's Sarah Glidden was named Track Performer of the Meet while UW-La Crosse's Amanda Wiebke and UW-Stout's Kaitlin Mallek were chosen as the Co-Field Performers of the Meet. UW-La Crosse's Nickolas Davis was selected as the league's Indoor Coach of the Year.

UW-Oshkosh will perform in last chance national qualifiers at Carthage College on Friday (March 2) and UW-Stevens Point on Saturday (March 3) before participating at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship on March 9-10 in Birmingham, Ala.
